The House of Representatives has tasked the Director General of the NYSC, Ahmed Yushau, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, with securing the safe return of Emeka Okeke, a missing NYSC corps member.
This directive came on Thursday after Nnolim Nnaji raised a motion of urgent public importance during a session of the House.
Emeka Okeke, a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, who was serving in Akure, Ondo State, has been missing since May.
Mr Nnaji, in his motion, explained the efforts of the parents of the missing corper to locate their son, with little or no effort from the government.
The lawmaker also highlighted the several instances of attacks on NYSC members in the place of primary assignments, and lack of decent accommodation.
Following the presentation of the motion, the House resolved that President Bola Tinubu should direct the two officials to provide security and decent accommodation to corp members.
The House also called for a coordinated search and rescue operation to locate the missing corps member.
